Pittsburgh Tough Guys

In 1979, Frank Caliguri and Bill Viola (The CV in CV Productions) came up with the idea to create a new “anything goes” no-holds-barred fighting league in the image of professional sports.  This franchise idea is now a billion dollar business.  They were 14 years ahead of the UFC and even more ahead on a format and structure to package the sport to a mainstream audience.  Sadly, they were wrongly outlawed for a death that was a result of a “Toughman” boxing event.  NO association whatsoever.  In 1983 MMA was outlawed with the “Tough Guy Law” even though CV never had a single serious injury.
